SDG 17. The first Doctoral Thesis in Joint Tutoring of the University of Cádiz with Kazakhstan has been defended

The doctoral student, already a doctor from the University of Cádiz and the Al-Farabi National University of Kazakhstan, Saltanat Bergalíyeva has defended her doctoral thesis in international co-tutorship “Recycled Plastic Materials for Additive Manufacturing: Quality Assurance and Life Cycle Assessment”, obtaining the qualification of Outstanding Cum Laudae. On December 21, 2023, a first defense took place in Russian at the Al-Farabi National University of Kazakhstan, and on January 12, 2024, the final defense in English at the University of Cádiz, in both cases with a mixed tribunal and the highest rating. It is the first doctoral thesis in joint doctoral supervision of the University of Cádiz with Central Asia and Kazakhstan.
This doctoral research work has been co-directed by Dr. David Sales Lérida, professor of the Department of Materials Sciences and Metallurgical Engineering and Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Cádiz, and Dr. Saltanat Bolegénova, professor and director of the Department of Thermophysics and Technical Physics from Al-Farabi National University of Kazakhstan. The thesis has been developed within the framework of the Doctorate Program in Energy and Sustainable Engineering of the University of Cádiz and the Doctorate program in Standardization and Certification of the Al-Farabi National University of Kazakhstan.

In 2018, Saltanat Bergalíyeva obtained one of the 6 scholarships offered by the University of Cádiz for the co-supervision of doctoral theses in the field of the Hispano-Russian University Classroom (current CUNEAC – International University Center for Eastern Europe and Central Asia), which allowed the doctoral student to carry out the necessary stays at the University of Cádiz to successfully carry out her scientific work.

There have been several impact publications by the doctoral student in collaboration with her two thesis directors, fulfilling one of the main objectives of these doctoral co-tutorship programs, which is bilateral collaboration for international scientific production and the positioning and internationalization of both. universities.
