A young scientist from KazNU has developed a smart crutch
A young scientist at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has developed a multifunctional and smart crutch for the elderly.
The device invented by 1st year student Yerzat Myrzakhan facilitates independent movement. In particular, the tool helps to go down or up stairs, to move smoothly on the roads.
"The main feature of the tool is that there is a GPS installed here. That is, you can find out where, for example, a grandmother or grandfather is, through an application on your phone. Also, if an elderly person stumbles and falls, a message is sent to the phone of his children. This crutch is equipped with a special laser lamp. It allows you to identify upcoming obstacles and gives a warning sound signal to the elderly person," says project manager Erzat Myrzakhan.
In addition, the crutches are equipped with a radio and a special flashlight for walking at night. The total weight of the crutch is 300-400 grams, and its length reaches 1 meter.
According to the young scientist, the price of the crutches will be much cheaper as it is made of simple elements.
