9th Logistics and Diplomacy Seminar Explores South Corridor Link: India to Europe via Central Asia
The 9th Logistics and Diplomacy Seminar held on February 28th, 2023, at the prestigious School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, delved into the intricate dynamics of the South Corridor link, a pivotal route connecting India to Europe through Central Asia. Organized by esteemed institutions from India, Kazakhstan, and France, the seminar garnered attention for its comprehensive exploration of trade, connectivity, and geopolitical implications in the region.
The seminar, led by the Dean of the School of International Studies, Shrikant KONDAPALLI, and the Director of the Center for Russian and Central Asian Studies, Archana UPADHAYA, was attended by prominent scientists, including the Director of the Institute for Security and Cooperation Studies, Professor Kuralay BAIZAKOVA, Professor of KazNU Fatima KUKEYEVA, General Delegate of the SEFACIL Foundation, Dr. Yann ALIX and Director of the Lexfame Research Center at the University of Le Havre, Pierre CHABAL (France).
The seminar commenced with insightful, welcoming remarks by Kuralay BAIZAKOVA, highlighting the significance of Central Asia as a pivotal link territory and delving into the prospects of maritime-land connectivity in the new century by Dr. Yann ALIX.
Throughout the event, presentations offered nuanced perspectives on various aspects of the South Corridor link. Aida YERIMPASHEVA, from Al-Farabi KazNU, presented a compelling analysis titled “Trade Corridor Resilience: Central Asia’s Preparedness for INSTC-Linked Economic Opportunities,” shedding light on Central Asia’s readiness to harness economic potentials associated with the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC). Zhulduz BAIZAKOVA provided further insights into the region’s preparedness and challenges.
The seminar concluded with thought-provoking remarks from Pierre CHABAL, who discussed the evolution from Pan-Asia Centrism to Pan-Regional Centrism, emphasizing the changing dynamics of regional cooperation and integration.
