Round table dedicated to the UN International Decade of Science for Sustainable Development
As part of the UN International Decade of Science for Sustainable Development, a round table “The New Era of Communications: One Voice” was held. dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the event was organized by KazNU named after. al-Farabi in partnership with the UN Information Bureau of the Republic of Kazakhstan - the Representative Office of the UN Department of Global Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Institute for Sustainable Development named after. Ban Ki-moon. Teachers, students, masters and doctoral students from universities in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Slovakia, Germany and France took part in the round table.
The purpose of the scientific event is to draw attention to the importance of the tasks of the International Decade of Science in the interests of implementing the UN sustainable development goals in Central Asia.
The round table participants discussed the possibility of interacting with global communications in promoting the university’s scientific research for the UN’s sustainable development goals, and implementing the Roadmap of Scientific Missions for Sustainable Development, aimed at changing the scientific model. They also presented to the public the issues of effective communication and communication with society in the focus of the Sustainable Development Goals, accessibility and effectiveness of information in the process of globalization.
"We have gathered today to discuss the most pressing topics. The United Nations General Assembly has proclaimed 2024-2033 as the International Decade of Sustainable Development (IDSSD). Having information integrity is very important to prevent new challenges and threats in the world. In this matter, it is necessary to unite efforts through scientific disciplines and forms of knowledge to solve complex problems of our time. In this regard, I would like to especially note the role of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University as the Global Hub of the UN Sustainable Development Program “Academic Impact (UNAI),” noted a representative of the Department of Global Communications UN Vlastimil Samek.
