Revitalized Seminar

12 february, 2024

Within the framework of celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics the event on modernization of the city scientific seminar "Modern problems of applied and computational mathematics" was held.

Dean of the faculty, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor U. Abdibekov noted that one of the scientific leaders of this seminar is Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of RK, President of the National Engineering Academy of RK, a well-known state and public figure Bakytzhan Zhumagulov, who for more than 50 years has made a great contribution to the development of the university and the faculty.

Bakytzhan Tursynovich gave an overview of the history of the faculty, recalled teachers and noted that the scientific seminar "boundary value problems of continuum mechanics" until 2000 was held jointly with Shaltai Smagulovich, who formed in Kazakhstan a scientific school dealing with quantitative solution of Navier-Stokes equations. "Thanks to the development of information and communication technologies, these reports are now engaged in the whole world. Therefore, I considered it appropriate to revive and hold this city scientific seminar again. In accordance with modern requirements, we have changed the name of the seminar. The seminar is now called "modern problems of applied and computational mathematics". A special place for scientists-mathematicians is the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi, which prepares highly qualified specialists in the field of science of the country. Therefore, the seminar will be held here."""

The first report of the scientific seminar on the theme "Solution of problems of ecology and geology by the method of conjugate equations" was made by Nurlan Temirbekov, Professor of the Department of MCM, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. The report outlines the results of the study of the method of false regions for the Navier-Stokes equations using the theory of coupled equations, variational principles. The duality principle was applied to account for the transportation of pollutant impurities, resulting in the development of a method of mastering the data of automated systems of atmospheric air control of industrial cities and facilities. The author reported that the newly obtained theoretical scientific results (made by his students) were applied in the geoinformation system for differentiation of air quality, the proposed method of data mastering allows using additional data of automatic atmospheric air control systems to determine the concentration of harmful substances emitted into the air by industrial enterprises.

More than 90 young scientists, professors, associate professors, lecturers and doctoral students of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics participated in the scientific seminar.

There is no doubt that this city scientific seminar is of special importance in the training of young scientists, their tempering, development of scientific orientation of the University.
