Rector made a report at the international forum
Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU), participated in the World Digital Education Conference held in Shanghai. The large-scale event brought together Huai Jinpeng, Minister of Education of the PRC, distinguished scholars, high-ranking officials, as well as representatives of international organizations and ambassadors.
Within the framework of the forum, a short film on digitalization in education in China (Shanghai Expo Centre) was shown. At the conference, the Minister of Education of the PRC, heads of international organizations, university rectors, experts in digital education, and others delivered reports.
In his speech, KazNU Rector Zhansseit Tuimebayev focused on the university’s experience in digitalization, its international cooperation, and research directions.
"Currently, the university continues to contribute to the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and strengthen its competitiveness through digital transformation of education. The university pays particular attention to developing innovative solutions in collaboration with foreign partners by applying artificial intelligence. Active cooperation at national and global levels is necessary through partnerships with other universities, companies, governmental, and non-governmental organizations for the exchange of knowledge, resources, and experience. Higher education institutions should also enhance their social responsibility and integrate sustainable development practices into their activities",- said the Rector of KazNU.
At present, Al-Farabi KazNU maintains close cooperation with 57 higher education institutions and scientific organizations in the PRC. There are 975 Chinese students studying at KazNU. The university hosts a Remote Sensing Center, which was launched in 2018 jointly with the Aerospace Information Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2022, a branch of the Northwest Polytechnic University (Xi’an) was opened at KazNU.
On January 26, 2024, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University organized its first scientific and innovation exhibition in Urumqi, China. The event, held at the invitation of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, was attended by rectors of 196 local universities, heads of research centers, representatives of more than 600 Chinese universities, leaders of 40 major industrial corporations, the diplomatic corps of both countries, as well as scholars and entrepreneurs.
During the international forum in Shanghai, the inauguration of the World Digital Education Alliance and the launch of the international version of China’s Intelligent Education Platform were held. In addition, the digital education cooperation program between China and other countries was presented.
Within the framework of the international event, the Rector of KazNU held several meetings with Chinese higher education institutions, including the East China Normal University (ECNU). The forum lasted for two days and included parallel sessions.
