An exhibition that paved the way for young talents

The II International Forum Digital Farabi dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was held.

The event was attended by Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek, Deputy Mayor of Almaty Arman Kyrykbayev, Chairman of the Board-Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev, business representatives, domestic and foreign scientists.
Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek spoke via online communication, noting the relevance of the forum. In his speech, the Minister presented data from IBM's report on "extended work in an automated AI-driven world", which analyzes the quantitative and qualitative impact of artificial intelligence on professional activities.
"Over the past five years, 27 countries have developed their own concept for the development of artificial intelligence. The President of the country has instructed to prioritize this direction. The two main conclusions of the report are that the first was the revolution of artificial intelligence, and the second is that algorithms cannot directly replace people. Specialists who have mastered artificial intelligence, new technologies, will begin to displace from the labor market those who do not have the capabilities and resources to use the capabilities of AI," the minister said.

In turn, Chairman of the Board-Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebaev noted: "The world is already living in the era of artificial intelligence. As noted by the head of state, the main tasks set before us are to minimize" digital inequality "and promotion" of digital agglomeration". This is especially relevant in Kazakhstan, which is a geographically large state. It is important to take this into account when introducing and integrating new technologies into all spheres of economy and security, medicine, education, life".

In the framework of the forum was organized a scientific-innovation exhibition, where scientists and students of the "Stem" centers presented their scientific developments and startups.

The aim of the event was to support young scientists in the realization of innovative projects and to promote their entry into the market.

More than 20 innovative projects were presented to the attention of visitors.

Among them, Diana Rakhimova, a scientist of the University, presented a mobile application in Kazakh language for children with speech disorders. The aim of the project is to improve and develop children's speech through the method of reading and writing with the use of artificial intelligence. Thanks to the scientific project prepared by the scientist, children learn to speak quickly and quickly perceive information. In the future, the authors of the project plan to introduce video lectures of speech therapists into the mobile application. In the future, when the mobile application is fully completed, parents will be able to use it for free.

One of the projects proposed by young scientists to the treasury is an "intelligent automated smart greenhouse". This smart greenhouse not only simplifies the process of growing crops, but also minimizes the work of people. That is, special sensors are installed to water the plants only when necessary and to control the air temperature. Thanks to these sensors, the work in the greenhouse is carried out with the help of modern technology. During the improvement of the project, the students were thoroughly studied and got a source of energy from solar panels. According to Gulnur Kudaibergenova, a 3rd year student and one of the authors of the project, such a scientific project seems to exist in the world practice. And although there are alternatives to smart greenhouses in Kazakhstan, they have not been fully realized.

Thanks to the exhibition organized at the educational institution, visitors had the opportunity to learn more about the scientific and innovative projects of young scientists.

A job fair was also held as part of the forum. In total, more than 35 large companies and organizations took part in the fair. Employers provided students with a wide range of vacancies in various fields.
