On March 26, 2024, within the frame work of SDG 5^ Gender Equality, Associate Professor of the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Zh.Kh. Salkhanova held the event on the topic: “Hijab: pros and cons”. The students from Kazakhstan majoring in “Translation Studies” and the students from Belgium who arrived in Kazakhstan to study at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University under the academic mobility program took part in the event. The students from Kazakhstan Saginbaeva Dilnaz, Maratova Zhanel, Erengalieva Aruzhan and others spoke about the specifics of Muslim clothing. The students from Belgium Lambert Damien, Tossens Maria, Jude Tedtim made presentations on how gender equality is organized in Europe. The relevance of the topic under discussion was due to the fact that the event was dedicated to International Female Day, the 8th of March.
