KazNU and the Institute of China and Modern Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences became partners

A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Institute of China and Modern Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ICSA RAS) is a leading Russian research and analytical center specializing in the study of politics, economics, culture and social processes in Asia. The signing of the cooperation agreement between IKSA RAS and Al-Farabi KazNU took place within the framework of the working visit of the delegation of the Institute of China and Modern Asia. The Russian delegation was headed by Kirill Babaev, Director of the Institute of China and Modern Asia.

At the meeting the guests of honor were welcomed by the member of the Board - Vice-Rector for Operations Yerkin Duisenov. In his speech, he made a brief excursion into the history of relations between Al-Farabi KazNU and universities of the Russian Federation. To date, established cooperation with 180 universities of the Russian Federation, including: Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, Dubna University, Lomonosov Moscow State University. Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow State Institute of International Relations and others.

"KazNU has a wide range of educational programs, including double-diploma programs, and scientific directions, implemented jointly with Russian universities. 14 faculties directly cooperate with partner universities of the Russian Federation. Academic mobility allows to establish close, friendly relations between our universities. This direction is a priority in the activities of KazNU, - emphasized Erkin Ermanovich. - For the last three years 485 students on bachelor's degree programs visited the leading universities of the Russian Federation. At the moment 62 students from Russia are studying at our university. 34 professors from Russia have visited our university. The range of cooperation with universities of the Russian Federation is very wide. And I am sure that our cooperation will bring significant results".

Kirill Babaev, Director of the Institute of China and Modern Asia, in his reply spoke about the activities of the Center for Central Asian Studies recently established on the basis of ICSA RAS, introducing its head Dmitry Novikov. He emphasized the interest in studying relevant information about the Central Asian region and expressed hope for cooperation in this area with scientists of Al-Farabi KazNU. "We have recently established a scientific journal "Eurasian Studies" and count on the participation of Kazakh colleagues in it", - said Kirill Vladimirovich. - We will be glad to establish relations with scientists of scientific centers of KazNU and faculties of your university to research a wide range of issues".

The meeting ended with a solemn ceremony of signing a memorandum of cooperation between Al-Farabi KazNU and the Institute of China and Modern Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
