SDG 13 – “Global Warming”

On March 28, an educational hour was held on the topic of SDG 13 - “Global Warming”, organized by 3 courses of geodesy and cartography.

Recently, it can be observed that the climate on Earth is changing at tremendous speed. In one part of the world snow falls and frosts set in, and somewhere else there is now abnormal heat. Climate change is clearly visible.

"Global warming". It's a concept we've all heard. However, behind this concept, which is used in everyday life, especially recently, there is a truth that we have not thought about...

Global warming is an increase in the average temperature of the earth's surface. Air pollution, an increase in the number of industrial enterprises, destruction of forests, and volcanic eruptions have turned out to be the main causes of global warming.

     Causes of global warming.

-Increasing solar activity on Earth. In general, all climate changes on the Earth's surface are directly related to the activity of the Sun.

     - Technogenic actions. Carbon dioxide emitted by industry, businesses and vehicles accumulates in the atmosphere in large quantities. Due to the impact of the sun's rays hitting the Earth, carbon dioxide does not dissipate and the planet heats up greatly. Besides carbon dioxide, there are other gases that contribute to global warming. These are man-made gases such as methane, nitrous oxide, etc.

     - One of the main causes of climate change is the ocean. Air circulation in the ocean has been studied very little. It is known that the average air temperature in the ocean is 3.5 degrees Celsius. Carbon dioxide contained in water enters the atmosphere.

Our planet is warming up. This heat is affecting the icy part of the globe at catastrophic levels. The air temperature rises, the ice melts. Sea levels have risen 2 times faster than 100 years ago.

     Preventing global warming.

There is an opinion that man controls the climate of planet Earth. How correct? Of course, time will tell. New ideas and ways to prevent global warming are currently being discussed. There are ways to prevent the problem of using energy resources and greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide. For example, it will be possible to prevent the spread of greenhouse gases into the air by burying organisms and using artificial trees. Of course, developing such devices takes time and a lot of money.
