Professor of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, winner of the "Gylym sardary" award of the Union of Scientists of the Republic of Kazakhstan, corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Kazakhstan and the National Academy of Engineering of the Republic of Kazakhstan, excellent student of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Laureate of the State Scientific Scholarship "For scientists and specialists who have made an outstanding contribution to the development of science and technicians of the Republic of Kazakhstan", "The best teacher of KazNU" and "The best teacher of the University - 2017".
Zharylkasyn Abduakhitovich was born on August 21, 1948. After graduating from the Chemical Faculty of the Kazakh State University named after S.M. Kirov in 1971, throughout his professional career he worked for the prosperity of his native chemical faculty. Abilov Zh.A. began his career as an assistant, senior lecturer, continued his work as an associate professor, then in 1996 became head of the Department of Organic Chemistry and Chemistry of Natural Compounds. In 2000, he assumed the position of Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, having worked for 9 years. Currently, Abilov Zh.A. continues to work for the benefit of his native university as a professor at the Department of Chemistry and Technology of Organic Substances, Natural Compounds and Polymers.
Zharylkasyn Abduakhitovich is a versatile personality - a prominent scientist, a talented teacher and a successful organizer. He is known not only in the Republic of Kazakhstan, but also abroad, as a prominent scientist in the field of physical, colloidal, organic chemistry and chemistry of natural compounds. Zh. A. Abilov is one of the founders of the creation of complexes based on synthetic polyelectrolytes and surfactants for the purification of heavy metal ions from industrial wastewater.
Possessing a broad outlook, encyclopedic knowledge, perseverance and efficiency, courage and the ability to explore new promising areas in science, he managed to successfully combine colloidal chemical research with the interdisciplinary field of bioorganic chemistry and chemistry of natural compounds. Under his leadership, work was carried out in this direction to expand the range of new local medicines with a wide range of therapeutic effects from the flora of Kazakhstan for medicine and agriculture. Abilov Zh. A. and colleagues developed new original domestic drugs "Alchidine", "Limonidine" for antitumor and bactericidal, "Biosed-K" wound healing, antiviral and anti-inflammatory actions. The products have successfully passed clinical trials and are recommended by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan for industrial production in the form of various dosage forms: tinctures, ointments and syrups. The obtained dosage forms have been successfully patented and registered in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan as new domestic medicines, and their production has been mastered at JSC “Himpharm”, Shymkent (FC Santo). For the creation of a series of domestic highly effective anti-inflammatory, wound healing and antiviral drugs, Zh. A. Abilov was awarded the prize of the Union of Scientists of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Gylym Sardary". In the field of organic chemistry, scientific research is conducted with employees to obtain new compounds based on amines of the aliphatic and heterocyclic series with specified properties.
Under the leadership of Zh. A. Abilov, the department began the development of a new direction - research on the immobilization of biologically active compounds on polymer carriers with prolonged action. To date, new composite dosage forms of effective drugs are being developed, which have significant advantages in comparison with traditional dosage forms. The patterns of immobilization of biologically active substances and drugs (Richlocaine, AK-29, Alchidine, Limonidine) with anesthetic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, hemostatic, wound healing activity on polymer hydrogels and natural sorbent bentonite and their compositions with polymers are studied in order to create new dosage forms of prolonged action. The developed forms have been clinically tested, have shown effectiveness in the treatment of oral diseases and are recommended for use in dental practice.
For the first time, under the leadership of Zh. A. Abilov, the results obtained over a number of years were commercialized and financed by the international World Bank within the framework of the project "Creation of production of new hydrogel medicinal forms of phytopreparations based on plant raw materials of Kazakhstan" (2012-2015). The uniqueness of these studies was the development of technology for new highly effective polymer hydrogel ointments and dressings containing the synthetic anesthetic Richlocaine and herbal preparations based on vegetable raw materials of Kazakhstan, as well as the organization of their pilot production for implementation in medical practice in the treatment of extensive wounds and burns.
Zh. A. Abilov is the author of 9 monographs, 2 textbooks, more than 700 scientific articles and abstracts of international conferences, 12 teaching aids, 85 patents and copyright certificates for inventions, 20 Pharmacopoeia articles of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 10 pilot industrial regulations for the production of various drugs and dosage forms based on them. Evidence of high professionalism and active scientific activity are international publications in journals with a high impact factor: World Applied Sciences Journal, Phytochemistry, Synletic, Tetrahedron Letters, Monatshefte für Chemie − Chemical Monthly, Heterocycles, Journal of Fluorine Chemistry, Helvetica Chimica Acta, Z. Naturforsch, Planta Medica, Chemistry of Natural Compounds, Journal of Ethnopharmacology, Tetrahedron, Chem. Pharm. Bulletin, Journal of Applied Chemistry, etc. Under his scientific supervision, 7 doctoral, 5 doctoral PhD and 15 PhD theses were defended.
The fruitful scientific and professional activity of Abilov Zh. A. is known not only in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the CIS, but also among the world intellectual elite. His name is listed in the world register of outstanding scientists, and he is presented with the honorary award "The Name of Science". Zh. A. Abilov laid the foundations for the development and long-term fruitful cooperation, which continues to the present with leading scientists from Germany, America, Russia, Pakistan, such as Peter Langer, Joachim Ketz, Samir Ross, E.E. Schultz, Atta-ur-Rahman, Muhammad Iqbal Chaudhry, Bina Sadukki, Vikar Uddin Ahmad, Asana Dar , etc .
Within the framework of the memorandum signed between the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Science and New Technologies of Pakistan on scientific cooperation in 2000, on his initiative, for the first time young scientists of Kazakhstan were sent to the leading international center of Sciences, H. E. J. Research Institute of Chemistry Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research University of Karachi ( Karachi, Pakistan) for a scientific internship. On the initiative of Professors Zh. A. Abilov and Iqbal Chaudhry, the Pakistan-Kazakhstan scientific laboratory "Innovations in the field of plant research and development of natural products" was opened at the Institute of Chemistry of the University of Karachi on the 20th anniversary of cooperation.
