MUN GRIGORIY ALEKSEYEVICH

Mun G.A. graduated from Mordovian State University (Saransk, 1977), postgraduate studies from Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov (1980). From 1979 to 1983 he worked as a junior researcher at the Faculty of Chemistry of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov. From 1984 to 1987 worked at NPO Svetotekhnika (Saransk) as head of the design and technology bureau. At al-Farabi KazNU he has been working since 1988 as researcher (1988), senior researcher (1989-1991), senior lecturer (1991-1994), associate professor (1994-1996) of the Department of Chemical Physics and Chemistry of Macromolecular Compounds. In 1996-1998 he studied doctoral studies at KazNU. After completing his doctoral studies, he worked as an associate professor (1999-2001), and from 2001 – as a professor at the Department of Chemical Physics and Chemistry of Macromolecular Compounds; the academic title of "professor" was awarded in 2003. From 2005 to 2010, he held the position of Head of the Department of Chemical Physics and Chemistry of Macromolecular Compounds, from August 2010 to August 2011 – position of Head of the Department of Colloidal Chemistry and Chemistry of Macromolecular Compounds. From September 2011 to August 2014, he held the position of Deputy head for Scientific and Innovation Activities and International Relations on the Department of Chemistry and Technology of Organic Substances, Natural Compounds and Polymers. From 2015 to 2021 he held the position of Head of the same department. From 2022 to the present – professor of this department. Doctor of Chemical Sciences (1999), professor, academician of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NEA RK), chairman of the Department of Oil and Chemical Technologies of the NEA RK, member of the Presidium of the NEA RK.

Internationally recognized scientist in the field of chemistry, physics and technology of polymers, nanotechnology, polymer materials science, composite materials, natural and synthetic physiologically active substances and polymer materials for biomedical purposes. He was the supervisor of a number of successfully implemented grant projects and 3 targeted scientific and technical programs financed by the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Author of 3 officially registered scientific inventions (International Academy of Authors of Scientific Discoveries and Inventions), over 600 scientific papers, incl. more than 110 scientific articles published in highly rated international publications included in the Scopus and Web of Science databases, 45 copyright certificates and patents of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 17 monographs, textbooks and teaching aids. Under the leadership of Mun G.A. 14 candidate's dissertations and 11 doctor of philosophy (PhD) dissertations were defended.

High professional qualifications and extensive experience in scientific and practical activities, corresponding to the world level, are confirmed by numerous publications in international high-ranking scientific journals. According to the international information databases Web of Science and Scopus, for the last 15 years prof. Mun G.A. occupies 2nd position in the world among scientists in the field of interpolymer complexes. Among all scientists in Kazakhstan, he has one of the highest citation indices (2321) and Hirsch indices (27), reflecting the scientist’s contribution to global science.

Prof. Mun G.A. successfully combines fruitful scientific and pedagogical activities with social work. In 2011-2013 he was included in the Higher Scientific and Technical Commission under the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 2012-2021 he was the chairman of the dissertation council for the defense of PhD dissertations in chemical specialties at al-Farabi KazNU. Since 2015, he has held the position of president of the Korean Scientific and Technical Society of Kazakhstan “Kahak”.
