10.10.2023 The teacher of the Department of Health Policy and Organization, cardiologist, Master of Medical Sciences Nurzhanova Madina Abdykadyrovna gave a lecture on the International Day of Interventional Cardiology for the teaching staff of the department and interested undergraduate students of the Faculty of Medicine of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
At a lecture by a practicing cardiologist, teacher of the department Nurzhanova M.A. important information was provided regarding new advances in the field of cardiology, interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery; the lecture stated that: Interventional cardioangiology improves health, increases life expectancy and improves its quality.
On September 16, 1977, Dr. Andreas Grünzig performed the first coronary angioplasty. Since then, angioplasty has been the procedure that has saved the largest number of grams of at-risk myocardium worldwide.
In September 2022, the General Assembly proclaimed 16 September as the International Day of Interventional Cardiology and invited all stakeholders to observe the International Day of Interventional Cardiology annually in an appropriate manner and in accordance with national priorities to increase public awareness of cardiovascular diseases and procedures, related complications, and on prevention and treatment, including through educational work and the media.
During the lecture, students asked questions of interest in the field of cardiology, the possibility of entering a residency in the specialty of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery. Members of the faculty asked questions of interest regarding the symptoms of Angina pectoris and Acute Myocardial Infarction, about the indications for heart surgery through X-ray endovascular surgery and cardiac surgery, etc
