Teachers and young scientists have been successfully trained to work with the GPR complex.

29 april, 2024

From 24 to 27 April on the basis of the ‘Scientific Centre for Sustainable Development and Environmental Management’, Faculty of Geography and Nature Management, training with geophysical equipment was conducted. Mastering of work with GPR «OKO-3» and additional antenna unit «Triton-M» to perform geophysical surveys and detection of underground objects, such as infrastructure systems, communications and objects of proper non-destructive analysis.

The training was conducted both for the faculty members from among the teaching staff and for young scientists from doctoral students from the 1st to 3rd years. Training in non-destructive testing was conducted by specialists from «Setek», certified in accordance with the requirements of the European standard EN ISO 9712 and the standards of the CIS countries.

  • The order of training consisted of the following steps:
  • Familiarisation with the device of GPR OKO-3 and antenna unit Triton-M.
  • Basic principles of GPR operation and its technical characteristics.
  • Techniques of equipment installation and calibration before work.
  • Practical exercises on data collection and processing using GPR.
  • Mastering the methods of interpretation of results and analysis of the obtained data on the licensed software ‘CartScan’.

The participants successfully learnt how to operate the GPR «OKO-3» and the «Triton-M» antenna unit. Skills and knowledge on data collection and processing, as well as analysing the results of radarometry for detecting underground objects were acquired. The participants are ready to apply the acquired knowledge and skills when performing geophysical surveys and searching for underground objects using GPR OKO-3 and Triton-M antenna unit.
