An international webinar "Bulgaria and Central Asia: dialogue of cultures in the digital environment"

On May 10, 2024, as part of the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal SDG 17 - Global Partnership for Development, an international webinar "Bulgaria and Central Asia: dialogue of cultures in the digital environment" was held.

The purpose of this project is to introduce students from Bulgaria, Kazakhstan and Central Asia to the culture of the countries, develop intercultural relations and competencies to create a professional and personality-oriented partnership.

The webinar was attended by students, undergraduates, teachers of St. Kliment Ohridsky Sofia University, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Bukhara University, University of Turkmenistan.

The webinar program was intense.

The 1st part was attended by teachers and students of Sofia University.

Violeta Dobichina, Director of the Al-Farabi Scientific, Educational and Cultural Center of St. Kliment Ohridsky Sofia University, made a welcoming speech; Prof. Madeleine Danova, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs of SU; Prof. Gergana Petkova, Dean of the Department of Classical and Modern Philology of SU.

In the 2nd part of the part, teachers and students of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University spoke.

The welcoming speech was delivered by Prof. Aliya Massalimova, Vice-Rector for Scientific Activities of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, acc. prof. Bekzhan Meirbaev, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Aizhan Kuderina, head of the Madeniyet-kz Club of the Department of Cultural Studies and Religious Studies of KazNU.

The presentations were made by Prof. Maira Kabakova, a lecturer at the Department of General and Applied Psychology and students of cultural Studies at al-Farabi Kazakh National University, who presented a presentation of the country, culture and traditions of the Kazakh people, told about their university and showed a vivid video about modern Kazakhstan, its nature, cities, customs and traditions.

In conclusion, words of gratitude were expressed to the author, ideological inspirer and organizer of a unique cultural project – Violeta Dobichina, director of the Al-Farabi Scientific, Educational and Cultural Center of St. Kliment Ohridsky Sofia University, a long-time partner of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

All participants of the webinar discovered Bulgaria and Kazakhstan, exchanged contacts, were charged with pleasant emotions from what they saw and heard, experienced warm feelings, gained extensive experience in building an intercultural dialogue in the digital environment, expressed a desire to visit Bulgaria and Kazakhstan offline.

The project has a continuation. The next webinar with the participation of universities of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan will be held on May 17, 2024.
