At the end of April, under the auspices of the Coordinating Council of the Forum of Rectors and Deans of Humanities Universities of the CIS Member States, the First creative competition commenced, dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the TASS Information Agency.

Participants in the competition were tasked with preparing an essay on the topic "TASS in information processes in the CIS," in which they were to discuss the activities of the oldest news agency and the importance of covering the current agenda of scientific and educational cooperation in the CIS.

The UNESCO Chair in Journalism and Communication, together with the Department of International Cooperation and Internationalization of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, held consultations for students and master classes for teachers of creative disciplines. And the humanities students of KazNU, having barely finished their exams, also took up the challenge. The requirements turned out to be quite demanding: originality and novelty, depth of analysis of the researched issues, language and style perfection, figurative thinking, and position.

Until the first days of summer in Moscow, at the TASS headquarters, intense work was underway to review and select the strongest and most talented essays from students from different countries. Finally, the results were announced: among the winners were students of the journalism faculty Aruzhan Estemes (academic supervisor, Professor Shyngyssova N.T.) and Angelika Deikhina (academic supervisor, Associate Professor Dudinova E.I.).

Students from KazNU topped the rating of the strongest participants in the competition, demonstrating their knowledge and ability to creative thinking, writing, and discover a new vision of actual problems. And, of course, they received the promised reward – winner diplomas and a trip to Moscow to participate in the anniversary events of TASS.

Let's wish them success, and to our universities - further development of humanitarian cooperation, joint innovative projects, expansion of educational and journalistic ties.
