KazNU summarized the results of the academic year

At the meeting of the Academic Council of Al-Farabi KazNU discussed the results of the international rating QS WUR 2025, in which the university rose from 230th to 163rd place, and the examination session of the spring semester 2023/24 academic year.

Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev congratulated the staff with a real breakthrough - the university rose in the QS World University Rankings from 230th to 163rd place. Such a result was possible thanks to the united labor of the faculty, scientists and staff of the university. "Taking into account the addition of three indicators, KazNU became the only university in Kazakhstan, which entered the Top 200 best universities in the world. Now - the task to strengthen the position. To do this, departments need to work hard on planning, organizing events, filling indicators.  This is very important work, which should be constantly kept under control", - emphasized the head of the university.    

The issues of restructuring of the university's structural divisions were highlighted by Vice-Rector for Operations Yerkin Duisenov. He brought for consideration of the Academic Council the issue of separation of college and school from the Faculty of Pre-University Education as independent units, as well as optimization of the structures of medical and information technology faculty with the opening of new departments. In particular, the Department of Cyber Security and Cryptology.

Director of the Department of Academic Affairs Bakhyt Rakhimbekova reported on the results of the examination session of the spring semester of the 2023/24 academic year. "Examination session is one of the important components of the educational process at the University and serves as the main tool not only to test the level of knowledge and skills of students, but at the same time to determine the effectiveness of teaching methods and assess the quality of educational programs", - emphasized the speaker in the report.  Talking about the preparatory work for the examination session, Bakhyt Kuanyshbekovna noted that the faculties of philology, international relations, medicine and health care, philosophy and political science showed improvement in absolute academic performance.

Then the presentation devoted to the analysis of the results of the international ranking QS WUR 2025 was made by Nurbolat Kudaibergenov, Director of the Center for Strategic Development. In the world ranking QS World University Rankings participated 5663 universities from 106 countries. Kazakhstan in QS WUR 2025 presented 21 universities.

The number of points of Al-Farabi KazNU on the rating indicators amounted to: the ratio of faculty to students - 99.3; reputation among employers - 79.6; international scientific collaboration - 64.7; achievements of graduates - 59.6; academic reputation - 54.2; foreign teachers - 49, sustainability - 29.8 and others.

The meeting was concluded with a discussion of topical issues of the university's activities.
