The opening ceremony of the International Summer School
The First International Summer School “Environmental Protection-2024” started at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. During the opening ceremony, the head of the commercialization office, Almas Gauhar, and the dean of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management, Aliya Aktymbayeva, emphasized that this event would become a platform for the exchange of ideas and best practices, as well as for the development of new approaches and strategies in the field of environmental education and sustainable development, and presented souvenirs to the participants summer school products.
As part of the Summer School, students of Xinjiang University (PRC) were familiarized with the university’s scientific and innovative activities in the field of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and visited the scientific center “Sustainable Development and Environmental Management,” which includes 10 innovation laboratories.
This event contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as ensuring quality education (Goal 4), ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns (Goal 12), Clean water and sanitation (Goal 6), combating climate change (Goal 13), protection and restoration of terrestrial ecosystems (Goal 15) and Partnerships for Sustainable Development (Goal 17).
