Participation in the international workshop on "INCREASE: Building societal resilience in the face of climate change"

On 07 June 2024, the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan in cooperation with the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) held an international workshop on "INCREASE: Increasing the resilience of society in the face of climate change". The workshop was attended by 15 representatives from 10 scientific institutes and partner organisations from Germany within the INCREASE project, as well as more than 30 participants from domestic universities, scientific institutes, civil protection and urban planning organisations. 

The workshop included various presentations and studies showcasing examples of work from Germany and Kazakhstan. There was also a workshop "INCREASE Integrated Disaster Risk. Transfer of Management to Central Asia" SDGs (13,17).  From the Kazakh National University in the seminar with a report on the theme: Impact of climate change on human health took part Head of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, Candidate of Geological Sciences Nysanbaeva A.S. In the report she emphasised the importance of studying the impact of climate change on human health. She cited the main problems that are studied by the scientists of the department. During the seminar, key conclusions and recommendations were formulated to strengthen the resilience of society to climate change, and the participants expressed readiness for further co-operation and exchange of experience for joint development and implementation of innovative solutions in this area.
