My Journey of Studying in KazNU

18 july, 2024

I am Xu Pengyue from China. In 2017, within the framework of academic exchange program under the "Belt and Road Initiative", I chose to pursue my studies in Mechanics at the Kazakh National University. Currently, I am a first-year doctoral student.

The decision to study in Kazakhstan stemmed from my curiosity about this vibrant and promising country. Kazakhstan maintains friendly relations with China, which further strengthened my confidence in choosing this destination. Being one of the top universities in Kazakhstan, KazNU attracted me with its excellent international academic reputation and strong faculty.

During my undergraduate studies, I was impressed by the high-quality teaching at KazNU. The professors here not only possess profound knowledge and superb teaching skills; they also focus on cultivating students' learning abilities and critical thinking skills, which will benefit students for life. Moreover, the university actively promotes international academic exchanges, providing students with extensive learning opportunities, such as academic exchanges with the University of Tokyo and the development of Kazakhstan's first and second academic satellites. These experiences enriched me and reinforced my determination to pursue further studies.

Under the careful guidance of my supervisor, Professor Rakisheva, I participated in a national scientific research program in Kazakhstan. We dedicated ourselves to researching methods for calculating and predicting the orbital position of spacecraft, under the influence of perturbation forces, and we successfully developed an efficient algorithm capable of delivering results within one second, and published our findings in an international academic journal. This research experience not only brought me valuable results but also honed my scientific research abilities and cultivated my teamwork spirit.

In Kazakhstan, I not only gained knowledge and personal growth but also formed deep friendships. I am especially grateful to my supervisor, Professor Rakisheva, who has been both a guiding light in my academic journey and a source of my spiritual support in Kazakhstan; I am also thankful to Dr. Kaliyeva for her generosity in academics and her care in life; I am also thankful to the faculty teachers of the Department of Mechanics for teaching me academically; and I am thankful to my classmates for ensuring that I am not alone in Kazakhstan.

Throughout these years, I have always obeyed local laws and regulations, respected local customs, actively integrated into local life, and worked hard towards promoting mutual understanding and exchanges between the people of the two countries. In China, I have endeavored to promote Kazakhstan and enhance Chinese people's understanding of it.

In the future, I will continue to strive for learning and research, contributing to the advancement of science and technology. Furthermore, I sincerely hope that KazNU will continue to excel, nurturing more outstanding talents for the world. I also hope that the friendship between Kazakhstan and China will endure, with deeper exchanges and cooperation across various fields.
