23 july, 2024

On October 27, 2023, in accordance with the decision of the National Scientific Council (NSC) on the priority “Rational Use of Water Resources, Flora and Fauna, Ecology,” the megagrant for the project “Sustainable Development of Natural-Industrial and Socio-Economic Systems of the West Kazakhstan Region in the Context of Green Growth: A Comprehensive Analysis, Concept, Forecast Estimates and Scenarios” with IRN BR21882122 was approved for funding. The goal of the program is to conduct comprehensive research to ensure the sustainable development of the natural-economic and socio-economic systems of the Western Kazakhstan region (Mangystau, Atyrau, West Kazakhstan, and Aktobe regions) in the context of green growth.

As part of the implementation of this program, a specialized website was developed with the URL address https://ecokazwest.kz/, aimed at increasing the efficiency of scientific research and the accessibility of their results.

The purpose of creating this website is to centrally collect and disseminate information about the program, providing easy access to data for all interested parties. The website promotes the popularization of scientific achievements, the expansion of their practical application, and the integration of scientific knowledge into the public and economic processes of the region.

The website is divided into 9 main sections, each serving a unique function in presenting information about the program:

  1. Home. An overview page containing general information about the program, an interactive map of the Western Kazakhstan region, and the latest news.
  2. About the Program. A detailed description of the megagrant, including its goals, objectives, relevance, expected results, and information about the executors.
  3. Tasks. A section detailing the specific tasks performed by each member organization of the consortium.
  4. Partners. Information about the consortium members, their staff involved in the program, scientific interests, and contributions to the implementation of the program.
  5. About the Region. An interactive map providing information about the Western Kazakhstan region by district.
  6. Publications. A catalog of scientific works published within the program, including articles, monographs, patents, and other works.
  7. News. Updates on events, scientific research, and other significant activities.
  8. Contacts. Contact information for all member organizations of the consortium.
  9. Tourism Forum. A link to a subdomain dedicated to the upcoming sustainable tourism forum to be held from November 21 to 23, 2024, with the participation of over 150 international guests.

The uniqueness of the website lies in its integrative approach to providing information. It consolidates data about all nine consortium members, offering users access to information about tasks, executors, publications, and contact details. This resource becomes an important tool for researchers and practitioners, providing a comprehensive view of the program and the region.

The program is closely linked to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1-3, 6-15, and 17, addressing strategically important issues of sustainable ecological, social, and economic development of the Western Kazakhstan region. The website helps achieve these goals by creating a platform for knowledge exchange and the dissemination of research results, enhancing their practical application and commercialization.

The development and launch of the website for the scientific program on sustainable development of Western Kazakhstan represent a significant step in the integration and dissemination of scientific knowledge. This resource not only promotes science but also aids in the implementation of key SDGs aimed at improving the environmental, social, and economic situation in the region.
