Memorandum of co-operation between KazNU and Qingdao Agricultural University concluded
During the visit of a delegation from Qingdao Agricultural University, a memorandum of co-operation between the two universities was signed.
The signing ceremony took place during the meeting of Acting Deputy Chairman of the Board - First Vice-Rector of KazNU named after Al-Farabi Erkin Duisenov with Vice-President of Qingdao Agricultural University Zhang Yumei.
In his welcoming speech, the first vice-rector emphasised the importance of strategic cooperation and cross-cultural interaction between KazNU and universities of China. The fruitful partnership is eloquently evidenced by a number of successful joint projects implemented by the university. This list includes the International Kazakh-Chinese scientific laboratory on energy-efficient nanotechnologies, created in partnership with Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Confucius Institute on the basis of the Faculty of Oriental Studies and Chinese Language Centre - a joint project with Lanzhou University (PRC). The opening of a branch of the Northwest Polytechnic University (NWPU) of the PRC in KazNU named after Al-Farabi and other bright pages in the history of cooperation between the university and universities in China became significant. Since 2022 till now KazNU has attracted two professors from PRC to give lectures. Currently, 969 students from the PRC are studying at the university. ‘In general, co-operation with universities of the PRC can be called voluminous and fruitful, - emphasised the Vice-Rector. - The conclusion of the memorandum between our universities will become a stimulus for the development of new areas of cooperation in the field of science and education’.
In her reply, Zhang Yumei, Vice President of Qingdao Agricultural University, noted that Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has graduated many talented people who successfully work in the fields of economics, science and others. She told about the seaside city of Qingdao, where the SCO achievements demonstration zone is located, Qingdao Agricultural University - a state university, which trains specialists at 22 faculties in the field of agricultural and engineering sciences. She emphasised the role of Professor Kulyash Kaliyeva of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in establishing contacts between the universities.
‘We hope that from now on, a bridge has been established between our universities, which will open a new page in the history of interaction between our countries and universities,’ said Ms Zhang Yumei. - And we will be able to connect the seaside city of Qingdao and the city at the foot of the mountains of Almaty with a strong and firm friendship’.
The meeting ended with the ceremony of the Memorandum of Co-operation, which defined the directions and prospects of future mutually beneficial partnership.
