Activation of cooperation with Tianjin University
Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev held a meeting with the delegation headed by the President of Tianjin University Jin Duncan.
During the talk, the two sides discussed the further intensification and deepening of relations between the universities.
The foreign delegation included Li Keqiu, Dean of the College of Intelligence and Computing, Shi Yanchao, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Li Qiang, Dean of the Faculty of International Education, Zhang Lin, Director of the Office of International Cooperation, and Li Anqi, Lecturer of the Faculty of Foreign Languages.
Having welcomed the guests of honour, the rector of KazNU provided detailed information about the institution of higher education. Also in his speech, Zhanseit Tuimebaev noted that KazNU and Tianjin University are connected by many years of fruitful co-operation.
‘Kazakhstan and China are good neighbours, close friends and reliable partners. Diplomatic relations between the countries are developing at a very high level. This is evidenced by state visits of the Heads of State, holding common events, participation in joint forums and conferences. As of today, 970 students from China study at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. On the basis of our university operates Xi'an North-West Polytechnic University. KazNU and NWPU signed an agreement on microsatellite scientific research. Co-operation between KazNU and Tianjin University was established 5 years ago. Now we intend to further deepen our relations’, - said Zhanseit Tuimebayev.
In turn, the President of Tianjin University Jin Duncan emphasised that he attaches great importance to the development of cooperation with the leading university of Kazakhstan and supports the deepening of bilateral relations.
‘Tianjin University was founded in 1895. It is the first public university in modern Chinese history. We currently have 42,000 students and 5,000 teachers. We understand that internationalisation is one of the priority areas for the development of higher education and science. Therefore, we attach great importance to the exchange between students and teachers. We have very good opportunities to develop partnership with your university. Our higher education institution has developed such areas as architecture, marine research, medicine and others,’ Jin Duncan said.
At the end of the meeting, the sides noted the fruitful nature of the talks and expressed readiness to continue active cooperation in the spirit of good-neighbourliness and strategic partnership.
