KazNU scientists will participate in the development of the KazLLM language model

Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kuanyshbek Esekeev paid a working visit to Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

During the visit, the Advisor to the Head of State met with the Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebaev and familiarised himself with the activities of the university.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the development of artificial intelligence and the development of the language model ‘KazLLM’. The head of the university informed the guest about the work carried out at the higher education institution within the framework of fulfilment of the assignment of the Head of State Kasym-Jomart Tokayev on the development of artificial intelligence.

It is necessary to remind that scientists of KazNU together with specialists of Nazarbayev University, Institute of information and computer technologies, Satbayev University, NNPC ‘Til-Kazyna’ named after Sh.Shayakhmetov, Institute of linguistics named after A.Baitursynov will develop the big language model of Kazakh language KazLLM. 

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education is currently collecting an array of data to develop a draft large language model ‘KazLLM’. As a result of the overall data collection, a high quality model of Kazakh language processing will be created. In the future, this will help not only to improve automatic translation, but also to improve the quality and accuracy of Kazakh language text processing in general.

 

In his speech, Kuanyshbek Esekeev noted that the design and development of the language model ‘KazLLM’ is under the direct control of the President and wished success in the work of scientists.

After the meeting, the Presidential Advisor visited the laboratories of KazNU and familiarised himself with the scientific infrastructure of the university.
