DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICS ALUMNI WON "ABAY-VERN" SCHOLARSHIP FOR DOCTORAL STUDENTS
Baimagambetova Sholpan and Omiraliyeva Nurzhaugan, graduates of the Department of Mechanics, Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, won the "Abay-Vern" scholarship.
Baimagambetova Sholpan and Omiraliyeva Nurzhaugan are graduates of the 2023 double-diploma educational program "7М05405-Mechanics and Energy" implemented in the Department of Mechanics, masters of natural sciences.
They participated in the competition of the "Abay-Verne" scholarship program for doctoral students to continue their scientific work at French universities in the academic year 2024-2025 and won the scholarship. The decision was made at a meeting of the French-Kazakh joint commission.
"Abai-Verne" scholarship program is a joint program of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of France.
Scholarship holders of the Abai-Vern program will receive a monthly stipend for living expenses in the amount of 1,500 euros (at the exchange rate of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan) for 6 months a year for 3 years, as well as a social scholarship from the BCS of the French government.
The French Government BCS Social Scholarship provides the following benefits:
• exempted from payment of registration fee to state higher educational institutions;
• Free long-term student visa to the Schengen area;
• . access to CROUS student accommodation;
• meals at reduced rates in student canteens;
• free additional medical insurance;
• Informational support from Campus France.
In 2024, 51 candidates (46 master's students, 5 doctoral students) were approved according to the results of the meeting of the French-Kazakh joint commission. We are happy to inform you that 2 doctoral students of the "Mechanics" department are graduates of the "7M05405-Mechanics and Energy" double-diploma educational program, masters Baimagambetova Sholpan and Omiraliyeva Nurzhaugan. We believe that this is a great success for our department and for our university.
"Abai-Wern" scholarship provides opportunities for doctoral students to study at the international level and achieve scientific achievements, that is, specifically for achieving the 4th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) — quality education.
