The event was part of the university project "University Without Corruption" and gathered first-year students from all specializations of the faculty, as well as group advisors. The seminar became a significant event for enhancing students' knowledge of transparency and ethics in education.
The seminar was conducted by the distinguished alumnus of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, Advisor to the Rector of KazNU, Doctor of Economics, Professor Serikbay Nurgisayev. His lecture was devoted to key issues in the fight against corruption and the development of ethical norms, both within the university and in the future professional activities of the students. The professor emphasized the importance of individual responsibility in combating corruption and highlighted the role of educational institutions in promoting these values.
The audience listened with great interest to Professor Nurgisayev’s speech, in which he supported his points with real-world examples of successful anti-corruption programs implemented in various countries. Special attention was given to how each student can contribute to strengthening the anti-corruption culture by adhering to the rules and standards within the university. The professor also pointed out that honesty and transparency are the foundations for building a just and progressive society.
The seminar was significant not only in terms of the educational process but also as part of shaping the civic consciousness of young people. Students actively asked questions, discussed relevant topics, and expressed their views on ways to combat corruption.
At the end of the seminar, Senior Advisor of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics B.K. The seminar on anti-corruption culture is closely linked to the implementation of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), primarily SDG 16 "Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions" and SDG 4 "Quality Education." SDG 16 focuses on strengthening the rule of law, creating transparent, inclusive, and accountable state and public institutions. During the seminar, special emphasis was placed on the importance of transparency and ethical standards in the educational environment, which contribute to combating corruption and supporting just institutions, starting from universities. Professor Nurgisayev stressed that fighting corruption requires the participation of every individual and begins with personal responsibility and adherence to ethics.
SDG 4 highlights the importance of quality education that provides not only academic knowledge but also moral guidance, helping future professionals to be responsible and honest. Corruption-free education is the foundation for shaping citizens with high ethical standards. This seminar was a vital part of this process, equipping students with the tools to consciously resist corruption in their future professional and social lives, making them active participants in building a fairer and more sustainable society.
This event not only expanded the students' knowledge but also prepared them for their future professional lives, helping them understand the importance of ethics and responsibility in any field.
