The Traditional "Farabi Cup 2024" Sports Competition Concludes at KazNU
On October 6, 2024, the annual sports competition "Farabi Cup 2024" took place successfully at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, organized by the Higher Student Council of KazNU. This event became a significant milestone in the life of the university, uniting students from various faculties in a spirit of friendship and healthy competition. Such competitions contribute to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-Being, as well as SDG 4: Quality Education.
This year, 84 students representing 12 faculties participated in the competition. Athletes competed in various disciplines, including football, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, and athletics. Each competition was held in an atmosphere of support and camaraderie, making the event particularly memorable. Sports events like the "Farabi Cup" promote physical activity among students and enhance their overall well-being, which aligns with SDG 3.
The Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty achieved outstanding results, confidently securing first place and demonstrating their athletic prowess. Students from this faculty showcased excellent teamwork and high levels of physical fitness, enabling them to win gold medals in most disciplines. Such achievements also emphasize the importance of teamwork and leadership qualities, which are part of quality education (SDG 4).
In second place was the Higher School of Economics and Business, whose students also performed well and received recognition for their achievements. The Physics and Technology Faculty rounded out the top three, with its students demonstrating excellent physical preparation and team spirit. The organizers praised the high level of preparation among participants and expressed gratitude to all faculties for their active participation. Competitions of this scale foster the development of sports culture among students and create an atmosphere of friendship and mutual support.
Additionally, the events included workshops and seminars on sports-related topics, making the program even more diverse and engaging. These activities promote learning and the development of new skills, which fully aligns with SDG 4.
At the conclusion of the competitions, a formal award ceremony was held, where cups, medals, and diplomas were presented. The university leadership and organizers expressed hope that such events would further promote the development of sports spirit among students and strengthen connections between faculties.
