The Role of Women in Society within the framework of SDG 5 – Gender Equality.

On October 8, 2024, the Department of Cartography and Geoinformatics held an open lesson with 4th-year students of the "Geodesy and Cartography" specialty on the topic "The Role of Women in Society" in accordance with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5 – Gender Equality. The lesson was aimed at discussing gender equality as one of the Sustainable Development Goals and exploring the role of women in various fields.

       The topics discussed during the lesson:

  1. The role of women in society: Participants reviewed the role of women in science, technology, economics, and politics. Debates were held on the leadership qualities of women and their influence on decision-making processes.
  2. Gender equality and sustainable development: The role of gender equality in achieving sustainable development goals was discussed. It was noted that empowering women can improve the socio-economic condition of society.
  3. Women's rights and obstacles to equality: Participants examined the difficulties women face in employment, education, and the realization of their rights. Gender stereotypes in society and their impact were also discussed.
  4. International experience: The gender equality situation in different countries was studied and compared with the situation in Kazakhstan. Measures and reforms aimed at achieving gender equality in Kazakhstan were also reviewed.

       The open lesson provided an opportunity to deeply analyze gender equality issues. A strong connection between gender equality and sustainable development was identified, and participants expressed a desire to further deepen their knowledge in this area.
