Discussed areas of partnership with a Malaysian university
The delegation of the International Islamic University in Malaysiavisited Al-Farabi KazNU . Within the framework of the visit there was a meeting with the Chairman of the Board - Rector of the University Zhanseit Tuimebaev.
In his welcoming speech, the rector spoke about the achievements of KazNU, which entered the Top 200 universities of the world in the QS WUR 2025 ranking at 163rd position, the leader among Kazakhstani universities. The University is also ranked 1st in Central Asia and 29th among all Asian universities in the QS Asia ranking.
KazNU to date has established direct partnerships with 8 universities in Malaysia, such as: Yayasan Melaka International College, Fattaheducation (International Representative Office of Malaysian Universities), University of Management and Science, etc. Within the framework of academic mobility in 2023-24. 5 doctoral students of KazNU have passed scientific internship in universities of Malaysia. In the capital of Malaysia Kuala Lumpur in November 2023 during the QS summit on higher education in the Asia-Pacific region a solemn ceremony of awarding the certificate of international rating QS Asia University Rankings to KazNU named after Al-Farabi, which took 29th place among 856 countries of participating universities took place.
At the end of the speech Zhanseit Kanseituly emphasised that the university is interested in further strengthening of cooperation in the following areas: exchange of students and faculty, implementation of joint research projects, inviting professors and others.
In his reply to Dato' Sri, Dr Syed Hussein Al Habshi - Member of the Board of Governors of IIUM spoke about the activities of the International Islamic University in Malaysia (IIUM) which has been recognised regionally and internationally by winning medals at exhibitions such as PENCIPTA, INPEX, ITEX Geneva and KIPA.
The guest of honour stressed that the partnership with Al-Farabi KazNU for IIUM opens great prospects, especially in the field of implementation of double degree programmes, sustainable development and academic exchange. The development of these areas of partnership can bring significant benefits for both parties. Dr Syed Hussain Al Habshi concluded his speech by proposing an international conference on the study of Al-Farabi's legacy in Malaysia.
The proposals of the IIUM delegation participants were supported by the head of Al-Farabi KazNU. The parties discussed the implementation of joint scientific and educational projects.
