As part of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals program, various activities are carried out at the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners of the Faculty of Pre-University Education. It is clear that the main purpose of the activity of the teachers of the department, who teach foreign citizens Kazakh and Russian languages, is to provide high-quality education so that those who have subsequently completed their studies can fully realize their plans using the knowledge gained at the university. At the same time, the work carried out by the staff of the department is not limited to teaching languages. Full immersion in the social environment is necessary for full, high-quality language proficiency.
That is why the department pays great attention to educational work outside the classroom. For more than 10 years, the "Melpomene" Theater Club has been conducting educational work at the Department of Language and General Education Training for Foreigners. The purpose of the club is to foster students' love for art and poetry, to acquaint foreign citizens with the history of the creation and activities of theaters in Almaty. Mentors are supposed not only to tell students about the cultural life of the southern capital, but also to organize visits to performances, performances, i.e. to introduce them directly to cultural life.
The next meeting of the club on the topic "Do you love theater?" was held by the heads Ignatova E., Tolmacheva D., Nurshaikhova Zh., Akhmedova A. Foreign students listened with great interest to the teachers' information, told about their attitude to theatrical art, telling about which genres are especially close to them. As a rule, such events are held in the format of a round table, where students, along with mentors, share their understanding of the topic under discussion. In this regard, the members of the club are students of advanced level of study, who thus have another opportunity to practically deepen their knowledge of the subject being studied.
