An event was held at the preparatory department of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, where Darhan Kozhanuly Mamytkanov, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Sociology and Social Work and Candidate of Sociological Sciences, delivered a lecture on the health and well-being of the population. During the lecture, the audience actively asked questions and shared their opinions. The event was organized by Senior Lecturer S. Sagnaikyzy.

Health and well-being are not only fundamental rights of every individual but also essential conditions for the sustainable development and prosperity of society. Within the framework of the preparatory department’s educational programs at KazNU, attention is given to how the history of medicine and healthcare is closely connected with social, economic, and cultural changes in society, and how these changes have influenced the development of medical science and the perception of health over the centuries. The course examines historical examples of how various civilizations dealt with epidemics and diseases, as well as changes in approaches to treatment and patient care depending on cultural and scientific discoveries.

History lecturers emphasize the study of the impact of key historical events, such as wars, epidemics, and economic crises, on the development of medical systems and public perceptions of health. This helps students understand how social conditions and levels of inequality affect access to healthcare services and overall quality of life. Among the most important topics of the course are contemporary healthcare issues and the ways different societies adapt to improve public health.

Additionally, the lecturers highlight the importance of personal responsibility for health, encouraging students to actively participate in society and maintain a healthy lifestyle. During the course, successful practices aimed at improving public health, such as disease prevention programs, public education, and the role of technology in improving diagnosis and treatment, are discussed.

The goal of the department’s lecturers is to inspire students to use their knowledge and skills not only for personal benefit but also to create a healthier and more prosperous world that contributes to the sustainable development of society.
