The Faculty of International Relations joined the global campaign "16 Days of Activism" dedicated to the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women to implement the Sustainable Development Goals
On November 25, 2024, the Academic Regional Resource Center for Information Support about the UN at the Faculty of International Relations of Al-Farabi KazNU joined the global campaign "16 Days of Activism" dedicated to the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, initiated by the UN.
The symbol of the campaign is orange, which represents hope for a future free of violence against women. The UN hopes to use it to draw the attention of governments, organizations and the general public to this pressing issue. The main goal of the initiative is to eradicate the "culture of violence" that exists in all countries of the world.
In 2024, the campaign focuses on uniting the efforts of society, supporting human rights defenders and feminist movements, and countering restrictions on women's rights. The orange ribbons that were worn today at the faculty call for exactly such actions.
These initiatives are directly related to the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals: ensuring quality education (SDG 4), achieving gender equality (SDG 5), strengthening peace, justice and strong institutions (SDG 16), and developing international partnerships (SDG 17). All this is important for the young generation of international relations students.
The staff of the Faculty of International Relations expresses the hope that through this campaign, the new generation of students will follow the path of completely eradicating violence against women and supporting the sustainable development goals.
