SDG 1: No poverty. Learn English through story.
On December 1, 2024, Gulzhazira Koitasova, the senior lecturer at the Department of Foreign Languages, conducted English classes within the framework of “SDG1: No poverty”. Classes were held online with the participation of 1st year students of Faculty of History. Online classes mainly aimed at students from low-income families. During the lesson, English Through Story technology was used. The purpose of the lesson was to develop students' reading, listening and speaking skills. To develop communication skills in English, students listened to, read and discussed an audio adaptation of the famous writer Ian Carew's novel “Lost Love». The story consists of three parts. The online lesson began with an introduction to the contexts of new vocabulary, listening and reading took place simultaneously, and ended with answers to questions and discussion of the plot. As a task, links were given for listening again and questions for discussion in offline class.
