Participation of the Department of Computational Sciences and Statistics of Al-Farabi KazNU in the 14th International Conference AIMS

23 december, 2024

Head of the Department of Computational Sciences and Statistics at Al-Farabi KazNU, Almas Temirbekov, and Associate Professor of the Department, Syrim Kasenov, were on a business trip in Abu Dhabi from December 15 to 21, 2024, where they participated in the 14th International Conference of AIMS on Dynamical Systems, Differential Equations, and their Applications. The conference, held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, gathered around 1200 mathematicians from around the world, creating a unique platform for exchanging knowledge and discussing pressing issues in the field of computational mathematics.

The primary goal of the trip was to participate in scientific sessions and present research results related to the numerical solution of the Navier-Stokes equations and inverse problems. The conference featured reports from leading international scientists on new approaches in computational methods, the application of machine learning, and the use of neural networks to solve complex mathematical modeling problems.

Sessions dedicated to the practical application of numerical methods in complex areas of science and engineering generated particular interest. Participation in discussions allowed for networking with colleagues from other countries and discussing prospects for joint research and publications. Moreover, the conference served as an important platform for exchanging experiences and expanding professional connections, which will contribute to the future development of the department's scientific activities.

The business trip was conducted as part of the grant program AP23490027, aimed at developing applied programs for the numerical solution of Navier-Stokes equations. Participation in this event helped strengthen international collaboration and contributed to the advancement of the department's scientific directions.

The participation of KazNU representatives in the international conference supports several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This includes SDG 4 (Quality Education), as the exchange of knowledge and best practices in computational sciences contributes to improving the quality of education. The conference is also linked to SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), as the discussion of new computational methods and technologies fosters the development of innovative approaches. SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) is implemented through strengthening international connections and cooperation, which opens up new opportunities for joint research and publications.

We wish further success to the conference participants, as well as continued growth and development of the department's scientific activities, which will contribute to advancing cutting-edge technologies and strengthening international cooperation in the future.
