SDG №4: «Kazakh Literary Language and the Formation of Norms: Theory and Practice» was held to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Rabiga Syzdyk
On November 8, 2024, an international roundtable titled «Kazakh Literary Language and the Formation of Norms: Theory and Practice» was held to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Rabiga Syzdyk, an outstanding scholar, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, corresponding member of the Linguistic Society «Dil Kurumu» of Turkey, Doctor of Philosophy, professor, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Sh. Valikhanov Prize, and a distinguished figure in Kazakhstani science and pedagogy.
The purpose of the event was to pass on the scholar's works from generation to generation and to follow his concepts, which will shape the future of Kazakh orthography. This topic was also highlighted as the main theme of the roundtable.
The scientific meeting was attended by scholars from Japan, Russia, Sakha (Yakutia), Bashkortostan, Turkey, and other foreign countries, as well as faculty members and young students of KazNU. Among the participants were Altyay Kazmagambetov, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of KazNU, and Mahmetgali Sarybekov, the rector of the Sh. Murtaza International Tzaras Innovation Institute, who spoke about Rabiga Syzdyk's contribution to the development of the Kazakh literary language as an enduring legacy passed from generation to generation.
At the scientific meeting, independent director of the Board of Directors of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, academician Karimbek Kurmanaliev, associate professor of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Nigde Omer Halisdemir University, Esra Yavuz Acar, PhD in the Department of Modern Turkish Dialects and Literature, and other scholars gave reports on the history of modern Kazakh literary language, new trends in Kazakh linguistics, and detailed discussions on Turkology issues. The works of the scholar were published and presented by the «Kazakh University» publishing house.
The conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of such a scholar became a meeting that highlighted the place of academician Rabiga Syzdyk in science, introduced the beautiful world of our native language, and presented language not only as a means of communication but also as a tool for education, the formation of national consciousness, and national psychology.
