Gender Equality in Kazakhstan

On February 1, 2025,  the first-year PhD  student majoring in  "Foreign Philology," Еnlik Konys together with the  senior lecturer of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies, A.Zh. Bayeli, conducted a demo  lesson on the topic:  "Gender Equality in Kazakhstan" (5 SDG: "Gender equality"). The event attracted the  students and  the faculty members specializing in gender studies.

The lesson aimed at  discussing the  issues of gender equality in modern Kazakhstan and exploring  the historical role of women in the Alash Orda movement. The topic is particularly significant as Kazakhstan actively strives to strengthen equality and expand women's rights. Understanding their contributions to the national liberation movement fosters a more just perspective on the past.

During the lesson,  the statistics on the status of women in Kazakhstan were presented, covering the fields of education, politics, business, and science. Challenges and prospects for achieving equality were discussed focuding on  women who contributed to the development of Kazakh society in the early 20th century. Figures such as Nazira Tyumenbayeva, Sara Yesova, Badigul Musina, and others were mentioned for their efforts in advancing education and social reforms. Additionally, legislative initiatives on gender equality and the impact of cultural stereotypes on women's societal status were examined.

The lesson highlighted the importance of recognizing women's roles in Kazakhstan’s history and the need for continued promotion of equal opportunity policies. Both the  students and  the faculty members  concluded that understanding the historical context helps in gaining deeper insights into contemporary issues and contributes to building a fairer society.

The event served as a platform for exchanging opinions and proposals, demonstrating young people's strong interest in gender equality. In conclusion, participants expressed hope for further discussions and the deeper integration of this topic into the university’s educational programs.
