The scientific legacy of Professor L.S.Akhmetova was discussed

A scientific-methodological seminar titled "The Scientific Heritage of Professor L.S. Akhmetova" was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, dedicated to the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The seminar was attended by public representatives, renowned scientists from leading universities and research institutes of Kazakhstan and Russia, journalists, university professors, and students.
The event was opened by the Chairman of the Board – Rector of KazNU, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, who congratulated Professor Leila Seysenbekovna Akhmetova on the holiday and highlighted her immense contributions to the development of science. L.S. Akhmetova worked at KazNU for 54 years, authored and published 117 books, 1,000 scientific works, five monographs, five textbooks, and published over 1,000 materials.
In 2016, Professor, Doctor of Historical Sciences Leila Akhmetova published the book "Brest Fortress. Kazakhstan", which describes the lives of the heroes-defenders of the Brest Fortress from Kazakhstan. In 1939, conscripts from the Zhambyl region were sent to serve in Belarus, and they were among the first to face the blow of the fascist invasion and defend the Brest Fortress. In 2020, the book "Panfilovtsy – Our Pride, Our Glory" was published. L.S. Akhmetova is the chairwoman of the Commission of the Assembly of Peoples of Eurasia for the Preservation of Historical Memory and the chairwoman of the International Association of Descendants of Panfilovtsy and Their Friends.
During the event, the 29th edition of the "Ғибратты ғұмыр" series, titled "Akhmetova Leila Seysenbekovna", was presented, along with the mega-project "Our Gift to the Homeland for the 9th May 2025 Victory Anniversary".
The event featured speeches by Valery Ruzin, Deputy Secretary General of the Assembly of Peoples of Eurasia and Africa, the grandson of the Brest Fortress defender Amangeldy Daurenbaev, Academician and Professor of KazNU Mukhambetkali Burkitbaev, representatives from Belarus, President of the Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan Banu Nurgazieva, Chairman of the Union of Afghanistan Veterans Murat Abdushukurov, Chairman of the "Union of Officers" Major General Makhmut Telegusov, and many others.
As part of the seminar, participants were presented with a six-month report on the implementation of the international mega-project "Our Gift to the Homeland for the 9th May 2025 Victory Anniversary".
The seminar became a platform for discussing relevant issues related to the role of women in science and their contributions to the development of various scientific disciplines. Participants emphasized the importance of such events in raising awareness about women's achievements in the scientific field. The event was organized by the Faculty of Journalism.
