Treasury Al-Farabi Kazakh National University always pays great attention to such aspects of student learning and education as educational work. The teachers of the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners of the Faculty of Pre-university Education carry out a great educational work with the students of the faculty also in the framework of studying and promoting the Goals of Sustainable Development. This aspect of learning corresponds to such SDG areas as "Quality Education" and "Partnership for Sustainable Development". Therefore, on January 24, the Faculty of Pre-University Education, the Department of Language and General Education Training for Foreigners, together with the Confucius Institute, traditionally held an event dedicated to the celebration of the Eastern New Year according to the lunar calendar. One year ends on December 31 in all countries of the world according to the calendar and the next calendar year begins on January 1. But there is also the Lunar Calendar, which is the calendar used by the peoples of Southeast Asia. Therefore, China, Japan, Korea and other southeastern countries celebrate their New Year according to the lunar calendar. The history of the holiday is very ancient. This year, the Lunar New Year celebration falls on January 28-29. In China, Japan and Korea, this is a very big holiday and it is celebrated for 15 days. Traditionally, New Year is a family holiday, so everyone gathers at home and wishes each other a Happy New Year. Our Chinese, Korean and Japanese students are currently studying in Kazakhstan, so for them, family is now our university and faculty.
The Faculty of Pre–university Education is an international group of international students. Almost the entire world map is represented at our faculty. Students from various countries, representatives of Europe, Asia, and America study here. Therefore, our faculty already has a tradition of celebrating holidays from different countries, where students have the opportunity to talk about the traditions and customs of their peoples.
At the Lunar New Year celebration, Chinese students talked about the traditions of celebrating the New Year in China, Korean and Japanese students told how they celebrate the New Year in South Korea and Japan. The students sang Chinese, Korean and Japanese folk songs, read poems about the New Year, congratulated everyone on this great holiday and wished each other and the teachers health and success. Everyone was in a very good mood, this festive concert was very emotional, fun and interesting.
