Development of Russian Studies and International Cooperation in Education

An event dedicated to sustainable development and international cooperation in the field of Russian studies was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The event was attended by graduates of the Faculty of Philology, the second-year students of the "Russian Language and Literature" major, and the first-year master's students.
Associate Professor N.K. Sarsekeeva opened the meeting with a discussion on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted in 2015, highlighting Goal 17 – Partnership for Education. She emphasized the productive collaboration of the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature with leading universities in Kazakhstan and abroad, including L.N. Gumilyov ENU, RUDN, Moscow State University, Volgograd University, as well as universities in Spain, Hungary, Germany, Poland, and Kyrgyzstan.
A particular interest was sparked by the speeches of department graduates – Zh. Aitzhanova, Zh. Yesenbekova, and D. Mashrykova, now master's defree students at KazNU, who shared their experiences of participating in international Olympiads and competitions. A video was shown, highlighting the successful performance of the KazNU team at the International Olympiad held at the MSU branch in Astana in May 2023. The section concluded with students performing an original anthem they had composed.
Associate Professor N.K. Sarsekeeva also shared her many years of experience in training PhD doctors and master's degree students in the field of teaching Russian language and literature. She discussed new scientific trends in the study of Russian as a language of interethnic communication in foreign universities. The students from Turkmenistan studying at KazNU also joined the discussion. The participants agreed that the development of integration processes in education requires a high-quality training of specialists who are competitive in both the domestic and international labor markets.
The first-year master's degree students of the "Russian Language and Literature" major, Se Khunguang and Yerzhan I., shared their experiences of studying at KazNU and universities in China, complementing their presentations with vivid slides.
At the conclusion of the event, a collective photograph of the participants was taken, capturing the atmosphere of mutual knowledge exchange and friendly cooperation.
