In modern society, employment plays a crucial role in ensuring the stability and well-being of every individual. The issue of decent employment is particularly relevant for young people who are just beginning their professional journey. On February 27, 2025, the first-year students of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management participated in a discussion on the topic: "Decent Work is The Foundation of Well-Being," organized by senior lecturer A.S. Bazarbayeva.
The discussion covered a wide range of issues related to the labor market in Kazakhstan. The students sought to define the exact meaning of "decent work" and how well current employment conditions align with this concept. A key topic of conversation was youth unemployment, its main causes, and possible solutions.
The participants actively shared their views on employment, discussing the challenges young specialists face when seeking jobs. Among the proposed solutions, a special attention was given to the need for internship programs, increasing access to job vacancy information, and acquiring additional skills that are in demand in the labor market.
The discussion allowed the students to gain a deeper understanding of the labor market situation, reflect on their career prospects, and realize the importance of continuous professional development. The issues raised during the discussion remain relevant and require a further study and discussion at both the educational institution and government levels.
