A seminar on language culture was held

A scientific and practical seminar titled 'The Language of Culture and the Culture of Language: The Legacy of Scholars' was held at the Farabi Scientific Library, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the renowned scientist Shory Sarybaev and the 30th anniversary of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan

The goal of the seminar was to discuss archival materials collected by the scholar Shory Saribayev, dedicated to the study of the legacy of Shokan Ualikhanov. This collection, as part of his personal archive, was donated to the Scientific Research Institute of Turkology and Altaic Studies in 2023 by Mayra Saribay. It will serve as an important source base for young researchers in studying the creative heritage of Sh.Ualikhanov

The event was attended by faculty and students, staff of the Institute of Turkology and Altaic Studies, the library of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, as well as representatives of the scientific community. The organizers were: Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Institute of Turkology and Altaic Studies.

The seminar was moderated by Dr. Nursulu Shaymerdenova, Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and Executive Director of the Institute of Turkology and Altaic Studies. She introduced the purpose of the event and presented its participants

The event began with a welcoming speech by the Vice-Rector for Social Development of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Sabit Suatay. He highlighted the achievements of Shory Saribayev, an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Philology, Professor, Honored Scientist of Kazakhstan, Turkologist, and educator.

The event also featured presentations from: Mayra Sarybai, Ph.D. in Philology, Professor of the Department of 'Methodology of Scientific Research' at the Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages named after Abay Khan, Kairat Zhanabaev, Ph.D. in Philology, Associate Professor, Leading Researcher at the Center for Kazakh Folklore and Literature Studies named after Zhambyl at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Mendyganym Shaymerdenova, Ph.D. in History, Professor, Academician of the International Academy of Informatization, Member of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, Member of the Expert Group of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, and Professor of the Department of 'History of Kazakhstan and Social Sciences' at the Kazakh National Academy of Arts named after Temirbek Zhurgonov, among others

The daughter of Shory Shamalievich, Sara Saribay, presented a copy of Shory Sarybaev's book 'The World of a Philologist' published on the occasion of the scholar's 100th anniversary, as a gift to the Farabi Scientific Library.
