THE FORUM "INTEGRATION OF SCIENCE, BUSINESS AND PRODUCTION" WAS HELD IN ALMATY IN THE NEW FARABI HUB BUILDING OF AL-FARABI KAZAKH NATIONAL UNIVERSITY

A grandiose forum was held in the new Farabi Hub building of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU). It should be noted that the forum of this scale is being held for the first time in our city. Representatives of business, science and government agencies interested in joint innovative projects gathered here. The forum discussed the current problems of the city, presented the best examples of interaction between different sectors to jointly solve current problems based on the use of innovative approaches and scientific achievements. Recommendations for solving key problems were also offered.

Today, the modern world requires the active use of new advanced developments related to computer technology, the use of robots, innovations, and artificial intelligence. The development of Almaty as a scientific and educational center is of particular importance. Speaking at the forum, Akim of the city E. Dosaev cited the following data. "One third of all universities in Kazakhstan are located in the city, more than 280 thousand students study and more than 130 research centers operate, which is a third of the total number of scientific organizations in Kazakhstan."  The Almaty Development Program is based on the active use of scientific achievements and technology transfer. "We have the necessary tools and opportunities to finance research and ensure technology transfer to the life of the city. If there are enough projects, this year we will allocate up to 10 billion tenge for various projects related to the seven main directions of the Almaty City Development Program," Yerbolat Dosayev stressed.

According to the data of the city department of digitalization, by the end of 2024, megapolis remains the leader in the development of the IT sector in Kazakhstan, providing 52% of all services provided in this area. The total volume of the IT market in the country last year amounted to about 3 trillion tenge, of which 1.6 trillion tenge is accounted for in Almaty.

It is quite natural that this forum was held at the Farabi Hub– the innovation center of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.  Speaking at the forum, KazNU Rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev stressed that the university is ready to become a reliable partner in innovative solutions, digitalization, sustainable ecology and effective resource management in Almaty. The university develops cutting-edge ideas and creates solutions aimed at developing a sustainable, comfortable and technological city of the future.

KazNU is a center of innovation and technological development. The University is the largest scientific and educational center and the leader of Central Asia in the field of science and academic mobility. The University ranks 163rd in the QS World University Rankings, 29th in Asia and 1st in Central Asia. More than 29,000 students study here, including 4,185 international students from 55 countries.

Classes are taught by 3,354 teachers, including the country's leading scientists.

Science and innovation are KazNU's key priorities. The University successfully operates 8 research institutes, 140 laboratories, 34 research centers and 2 laboratories for collective use. The university is actively implementing digital technologies, artificial intelligence and environmentally sustainable solutions.

To implement innovative projects, the university employs one of the most powerful supercomputers in Central Asia with a capacity of 2000 TFLOPS, which allows solving the most complex tasks of data analysis, modeling and artificial intelligence development.

The Kazakh-Chinese Laboratory is actively conducting research on remote sensing technologies aimed at solving the environmental problems of the metropolis. University scientists create air pollution maps, analyze groundwater quality, identify critical pollution zones, and develop technologies to reduce the carbon footprint.

Thus, KazNU has great opportunities to integrate into the innovation ecosystem of Almaty and commercialize scientific developments, said Rector Zh. Tuimebaev.
