KazNU establishes partnership with Harbin Engineering University

A delegation from Harbin University of Engineering visited Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, discussing the directions and prospects of partnership with the leadership of the country's leading university.
The distinguished guests were greeted by Margulan Ibraimov, Member of the Board, Vice–Rector for Research and Innovation. He spoke about the activities of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in the status of a research university, actively developing and expanding areas of international cooperation. Chinese universities occupy a special place in the list of strategically important university partners. The most famous of the 65 higher education institutions in China with which KazNU is developing strategic cooperation in the field of science, higher education and cross-cultural exchange are: Peking University, Tsinghua University, Shanghai University of Foreign Languages, Shanghai University of Politics and Law, Xi'an Jiaotong University and others.
Among the numerous joint projects with universities of the People's Republic of China are: a branch of Northwestern Polytechnic University (NWPU), the Center for Remote Sensing of the Earth, the China-Kazakhstan Joint Laboratory for Remote Sensing Technologies and Applications, the ZTE Corporation Training and Research Center, the Center for Sustainable Development in Central Asia, the China-Kazakhstan International Scientific Laboratory for Energy-intensive Nanotechnology and others.
Thanking the delegation for their interest in the university's activities, Vice Rector for Research and Innovation Margulan Ibraimov expressed his willingness to establish mutually beneficial cooperation with Harbin University of Engineering.
In his response, Dingxing, Deputy Head of the International Department, spoke about Harbin Engineering University (HEU), which has about 30,000 students, masters and postgraduates. HEU is a state university and a key university in China in the field of shipbuilding, marine technology and defense research. The structure of the university includes The National Laboratory of Deep-sea Technologies, modern laboratories and research centers. At the end of his speech, Denin suggested considering promising areas for the implementation of joint projects in the field of science and education.
The meeting ended with an exchange of views and discussion of issues related to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation.
