Republican scientific and methodological training seminar" trends in the development of national television content"

18 april, 2025

On April 18, a national scientific-methodological seminar-training titled “Trends in the Development of National TV Content” was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in honor of the 60th anniversary of Zhidegul Abdizhadilkyzy, Candidate of Philological Sciences and Associate Professor, who has made an invaluable contribution to the development of national journalism.

The event was organized by the Department of Print and Electronic Media of the Faculty of Journalism. The main purpose of the seminar was to review the current state of national TV content and analyze its development directions and pressing issues.

During the scientific-practical seminar, speakers thoroughly discussed examples of modern media platforms and new content formats, the social impact of information policies on television, and the role of national media in shaping youth perspectives.

The head of the UNESCO Department of Journalism and Communication, Orintai Oshanova, who took part in the seminar, especially highlighted Zhidegul Abdizhadilkyzy’s scientific works:

“In her textbook ‘The Nature of Live Broadcasting’, Zhidegul Abdizhadilkyzy comprehensively presents the theory of Kazakh live broadcasting. What amazed me most while reading her book was how she translated television terms (synchron, stand-up, VO) into the Kazakh language with a native touch. We are considering compiling those terms into a terminological dictionary,” she said sincerely.

Renowned media manager Nurzhan Zhalaukyzy recalled Zhidegul Abdizhadilkyzy’s student days and her first steps in journalism, emphasizing her diligence:

“In 1982, when we were graduating from the Faculty of Journalism, Zhidegul Abdizhadilkyzy had just entered the university. Even then, she had already clearly chosen her professional path and started working as an intern at Kazakh Radio, beginning to master the intricacies of radio journalism. As a student, she gained her first hands-on experience carrying a Sony camcorder on her shoulder. While we were chasing news with our ‘Reporter 6’ and ‘Reporter 7’ devices, Zhidegul was with us, performing both reporter and correspondent roles and attending the early school of real journalism. She also interned on the popular youth program ‘Ushkyn’ and was actively involved in the monthly radio journal ‘Guldauren’ for students. Over time, Zhidegul and her fellow young reporters took over these radio programs, developing them in new directions and enriching their content.”

During the seminar, Alma Muratkyzy, Associate Professor of the Department of Film History and Theory at T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts, shared her thoughts on her professional and personal relationship with her mentor:

“When I was writing my doctoral dissertation on content, Zhidegul apa served as my official opponent. Since then, our relationship has strengthened, turning into a stable scientific partnership. Even though we didn’t take direct lectures from her, we consider her our teacher. Through her works, we have deepened our knowledge and expanded our intellectual horizons,” she said, reading a special congratulatory message on behalf of Arman Adilzanuly, Rector of the T. Zhurgenov Academy.

Dean of the Faculty of Journalism, Kanat Auesbai, also read out a congratulatory letter sent by Alimzhan Igenbayev, Rector of Suleyman Demirel University. The letter highly praised Zhidegul Abdizhadilkyzy’s decades-long dedicated service, her perseverance in educating students, her scientific responsibility, and professional competence.
