The Pavilion “Laboratory of Applied Physics and High Technologies” of the Faculty of Physics and Technology Presented at the International Meeting on Women’s Rights: SDG 4 and SDG 5

On May 22, 2025, as part of the international meeting on the topic “Women’s Rights and Protection Mechanisms: From Standards to Support”, organized by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the OSCE Programme Office in Astana, and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, participants visited the exhibition pavilion of the Faculty of Physics and Technology“Laboratory of Applied Physics and High Technologies”, located at the university’s Farabi HUB innovation center.

The purpose of the visit was to familiarize participants with the university’s scientific initiatives in the field of sustainable development, to highlight the role of women in science, and to foster interdisciplinary and intersectoral dialogue.

The guests were welcomed and presented with the faculty’s projects by:

  • Dr. Yermek S. Mukhametkarimov, Head of the Department of Solid State Physics,

  • Dr. Svetlana L. Peshaya, Vice Dean for Research and International Cooperation.

The delegation was introduced to a range of innovative scientific developments, including:

  • functional nanomaterials for sustainable energy solutions,

  • plasma technologies for green industry,

  • intelligent sensor systems for urban environments,

  • educational resources ensuring equitable access to science for learners of all categories.

Special attention was given to the faculty’s contribution to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:

  • SDG 4 – Quality Education: integrating scientific advancements into the learning process and engaging students in real research activities;

  • SDG 5 – Gender Equality: supporting women’s participation in engineering and physical sciences and promoting women’s leadership in academia.

Participants of the meeting highly appreciated the scientific potential of the faculty, its openness to collaboration, and its contribution to creating an inclusive and sustainability-oriented university environment.

The Faculty of Physics and Technology of KazNU continues to actively promote the values of scientific diplomacy, innovation, and sustainable development, expanding its role in international partnerships and global initiatives.
