COOPERATION WITH TASHKENT STATE UNIVERSITY OF ORIENTAL STUDIES IS EXPANDING

A delegation from the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies ( https://tsuos.uz/ru/ ) visited the Faculty of Oriental Studies to exchange experience, learn about the educational process, academic programs, and teaching methods, as well as to discuss bilateral cooperation in the field of Oriental Studies. Founded in November 1918, the university is the second-oldest institution of Oriental Studies in Asia and one of the largest in the region and the post-Soviet space.
The delegation was headed by Dr. Khulkar Vasilovna Mirzakhmedova, Director of the Institute of Languages and Literature of Eastern Countries. During the visit, she presented the structure of the university and the specifics of its Oriental Studies programs. The delegation also included Dr. N.T. Khalmurzaeva, Head of the Higher School of Japanese Studies, along with academic staff members.
In turn, the Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Al-Farabi KazNU introduced the structure of the faculty, its language programs, and its major achievements.
The parties agreed to implement joint educational programs in Eastern languages, co-develop teaching materials, and conduct joint methodological seminars and professional development courses.
There was particular interest in supporting the development of new language programs at the Faculty of Oriental Studies (Pashto, Malay, and Vietnamese). The two sides agreed to launch a joint project to develop a Pashto language textbook and publish it at Al-Farabi KazNU.
Beginning in the 2025–2026 academic year, the two institutions plan to start joint activities on faculty exchange and doctoral student training in Oriental Studies.
