An informational screen has been installed

A solemn event dedicated to the presentation and installation of electronic information kiosks of the leading Chinese newspaper "People's Daily" was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Almaty, heads of leading universities and organizations – Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Abylai Khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages, Northwestern Polytechnic University of China, etc.

Yerkin Duissenov, Deputy Chairman of the Board and First Vice–Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, delivered an introductory speech. He noted the importance of the event, which became an important step in strengthening cultural and information exchange between Kazakhstan and China.

"The "People's Daily" is one of the leading and most influential newspapers not only in China, but all over the world. Its reporters and journalists work in more than 70 offices around the world. The installation of People's Daily electronic information kiosks opens up new opportunities for quick and convenient access to information. In the modern digital world, such technologies allow students and teachers to always keep abreast of current events and analytics, which is especially important for expanding their horizons and developing critical thinking", - said the first Vice–rector.

It should be noted that today the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Research University closely cooperates with 65 universities in China, and about 800 students from China study at the university.

Other speakers included: Fan Jiangshan, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the "People's Daily", Jiang Wei, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Almaty, Kong Jie, Head of the International Cooperation Department at Northwestern Polytechnic University, Director of the Institute of International Education, Director of the Kazakh branch of NWPU, Assel, First Vice-Rector of the Abylai Khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages. Chaklikova, Asylkhan Beisetbayev, Director of the Almaty Multidisciplinary College, and Liu Honghai, General Director of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) branch in Almaty.

The event culminated with the opening ceremony of the screens, symbolizing the launch of the project and access to relevant information from China for the Kazakh audience.

In addition, within the framework of the event, a project was launched to translate the popular Chinese animated series "Xi Jinping's Story" into Kazakh. According to representatives of the Chinese side, this will contribute to a better understanding of Chinese culture and values among the youth of Kazakhstan.  The participants and guests also took part in the interactive session "Single Screen – common rhythm" and got acquainted with the work of the Farabi Hub KazNU laboratories and centers.
