Educational practice of students at research institutes

Sokolsky Institute of Fuel, Catalysis and Electrochemistry actively applies the idea of "green chemistry," aimed at the development of environmentally friendly and sustainable chemical processes. Renewable raw materials are used, toxic reagents are avoided, emphasis is placed on waste disposal, energy saving and safe catalysts. Students got acquainted with the methane conversion process, where catalysts, such as cobalt, provide efficiency. It was possible to get acquainted in detail with one of the types of hydrocarbon synthesis - the Fischer-Tropsch process. We got acquainted with various technologies and studied in detail the principles of operation of a magnetic flaw detector, equipment that detects cracks in ferromagnetic materials. Coke formation - carbon deposits on the catalyst reduce its activity. In the chemical analysis laboratory, samples were taken and analyzed by a gas chromatograph.
A visit to the A.B. Bekturov Institute of Chemical Sciences was productive and impressive. Director of the Institute Tasibekov H.S. spoke about its history, areas of research and current projects. Students visited laboratories, studied modern equipment, and witnessed extensive research. Scientists explained the work of each device and the importance of chemical processes. Observation of laboratory work helped to consolidate theoretical knowledge and develop practical skills. Students received motivation and wishes of success from scientists of the institute. These days have strengthened interest in chemistry.
