In the period from June 2 to June 10, 2025, within the framework of the scientific project AP23490857 "Assessment of the processes of degradation of irrigated lands of the Turkestan region for sustainable land use", teachers and researchers of the department conducted field studies on the irrigated lands of Myrzashol (Makhtaaral and Zhetysai districts) and Kyzylkum (Shardara district). Turkestan region. The main purpose of the field work was to assess the condition of the soil cover before the start of vegetation irrigation.

Indicators of humidity, temperature, electrical conductivity (salinity) and acidity (pH) of the soil were recorded at key sites using a high-precision portable HM-WSYP detector. Aerial surveys of a total area of 1,100 hectares, covering the priority farmlands of the region, were also carried out using the DJI Mavic 3 Pro drone. Additionally, soil samples were collected from 30 sites with varying degrees of salinity and transferred to the laboratory for further analysis.

In total, more than 100 key points of irrigated lands were surveyed. The data obtained will be compared with the results of remote sensing and used to compile maps of soil salinity. The research is conducted in order to form scientifically sound approaches to sustainable land management in the arid climate of the south. Of Kazakhstan.
