Accreditation of Educational Programs Has Started

At Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the external expert commission (EEC) of the Eurasian Centre for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Education and Healthcare (ECA) has begun its work. Representatives of ECA will conduct the accreditation of educational programs in the Bachelor’s degree in Continuous Integrated Medical Education (CIME) and residency programs at the Faculty of Medicine and Healthcare.
The first day began with a discussion of key topics, program details, and the EEC’s schedule of visits to the university. A brief overview of the self-assessment reports of the educational programs was also presented, evaluating their compliance with accreditation standards.
Participants in the meeting included Erkin Duisenov, Deputy Chairman of the Board – First Vice-Rector of KazNU; Abdrakhman Tasybayev, Vice-Rector for Financial and Administrative Affairs and Infrastructure Development; as well as other university leadership representatives. The participants discussed the educational programs undergoing accreditation, including dentistry, general medicine, and various residency specialties.
The commission conducted interviews with faculty members involved in the CIME and residency programs and organized meetings with students, interns, and alumni.
On the second day, ECA representatives will visit academic departments and clinical training bases for undergraduate and residency students. Meetings with residency mentors are planned, as well as participation in seminars and practical classes.
The commission will review documentation related to residency and educational programs, including program passports, curricula, course catalogs, syllabi, resident portfolios, and the UNIVER and Salem electronic document management systems. Throughout the visit, interviews with both faculty and students will continue.
On the final day of the evaluation, a concluding meeting will be held to summarize the results and develop recommendations for improving the bachelor’s CIME and residency programs. ECA members will present the results of the external review to the leadership and staff of the Faculty of Medicine and Healthcare.
